of ghost stories. Loud
knocking at the door. The
sweet scent of jasmine.
Two dancers entwined.
Birch logs in a fireplace.
Delta tributaries seen from
above. A glass of cold milk.
Fake pistols in a carnival
booth. The bent hallow of a
spoon. A bird restrained in
flight. Yardsticks that
measure an inch short of
something whole to keep.
